​The project of Espais C comes from a project founded in Scotland in 1994 called Room 13 international.

 

Room 13 International is an innovative project in the field of art that involves the introduction of a studio in a school, to invite an artist to work there regularly. The school gives a space for the artist with the condition that students can go to work in the studio when they want, whenever they finished their homework.

 

In the studio, children are free they have to perform their creative projects. They can draw, paint, make sculptures, made collages, photography work, make videos, do research on a specific topic, read or work with the computer. Moreover, the resident artists of Room 13 participate in various activities such as exhibitions, conferences, television programs, among others.

 

The studio of the Room 13 project is managed by the own students. Every year a group of students are elected to represent the Steering Committee. Like any team, the children have to make decisions about the organization of the study, as the obtaining funds to get materials, dealing with the financial administration and more.

 

Currently, Room 13 has more than thirty studios around the world: from Nepal, China, Africa to the United States, France or Turkey.
